Vintage In A New Age

Picked up a few vintage items at a yard sale this weekend.  An old storage trunk, a Singer sewing machine (Cabinet Model), and a Nikon EM. Being a collector of vintage and antique items these pieces spoke to me.  History often has a story to tell if we take time to listen.  It was a pleasure speaking with the woman who was selling a host of items that belonged to her father who’d recently passed away.  She stated that he had been collecting so many things that the home looked like an episode of “Hoarders.” With the quality of these items I was only sorry I didn’t get there sooner.  Vintage in today’s world is something to appreciate by all means and uncannily we throw away a piece of the past without even thinking about it.  Knowing the value of something beyond the price tag is truly…priceless.

“Resonant Easel”

I lumbered my possessions and went for a ride today,

It was the sound of the alarm that said let’s go.

That little voice inside kept saying where to ride.

No destination in mind nor attachments at my side

Be it bus, plane, or auto…. take me by….

The sound of ocean waves cascading

in quantum patterns arcading amongst the skies.

Over the borders of a Pacific Ocean type of passion…nothing specific in my spectrum other than love and laughter.

Stamps in a passport support the thought of many terminals to pass all while entering a new chapter.

Sentiments manifest symbols of safe travels to a destination nostalgic of freedom at last,

As my needs consist of little… a window seat and cool breeze.

Sand tingling between my toes relaxed near any of the seven seas.

Skin tones absorb the hue of ancestors and other reflections in life.

All calming to the latest Budos Band, the caravan of sandals and bare feet greeting granules of miniscule fascinations.

A peaceful attraction to see these sounds reign subliminally through me.

(drumroll) “The Writers”…maybe??

So after months of procrastination and hundreds of monkey wrenches being thrown I’ve decided to start onto my first ever fiction novel.

The novel tells the story of London,  a suave lady killer.  He recaps his life from childhood barely knowing his deceased father who was adorned as a player and elite mercenary to their link in an elite society known as The Decree.  Founded during the Civil War, this organization has now gone on to become an international literary publisher. But as with most large entities, there is also a dark side to this prominent corporation.  On his journey, he aims to find out not only who his father truly was…but also who he  is. From Atlanta to Miami its a battle within himself.  Accompanied by Chakita, his loyal but spiteful partner and fling;  they may find a little more than answers….

Maybe I’ll share a few excerpts later…

Action Romance Thriller Sci-Fi Drama…???  IDK..a damn god book…how’s that..lol

Sea, The captivation…

While at sea I lost a thought today,
that very moment when seas blend to skies
smiles to turn frowns and lens turn to eyes.
The melody of the sea knows more of my mind’s smiles than I could ever see
While the world frowns & hopelessly drowns
I’m fond of the way the sea seems to understand and see the peace in me.

It’s not too often you get beautiful views of the sea before a storm. This picture was taken with my Nikon D3000 in La Romana, Dominican Republic. A fairly inexpensive escape for couples and families alike; it boasts a relaxing yet colorful palette of great food, cervezas, and attractions. Flights land at the international airport in Punta Cana which is about 35-40 miles away. Ground transportation is available via the airport but most hotels may provide for any additional costs.
